Medinah Kids

Our mission is helping kids encounter Jesus
and be radically changed by Him

Core Values:

  • Bible-Based: We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and that each child should be equipped to use  and understand God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
  • Gospel-Centered: We believe that true life change can only happen out of a relationship with Christ. We desire to faithfully communicate the gospel for the Holy Spirit to transform lives and for children to understand that every aspect of life is altered by our relationship with Christ. We are all sinners in need of a Savior (Romans 3:23; 5:8).
  • Relationally Driven: We believe that life change occurs in the context of relationships. Passionate, godly, and gifted adults who exhibit Christ to children, their families and each other will show kids how to do the same to impact God’s kingdom.
  • Fun, Age-Appropriate Environment: We believe that church is fun and it is our commitment to challenge children toward a vibrant, growing relationship with Christ. We desire to actively engage children at their developmental level, and therefore split our kids into age-specific groups: Babies, Toddlers, Early Childhood, and Elementary.
  • Family Focused: We believe that discipleship happens most often within the context of the family. Our goal is to support parents/caregivers in raising their children in the Lord (Ephesians 6:4; Deuteronomy 6:6-9).
  • Safe: We believe that spiritual growth occurs best in an atmosphere of emotional safety, physical security, and sanitary conditions. We are committed to excellence in these areas.

Starting October 2016, we have begun a three-year chronological study of the Bible through the Gospel Project Curriculum. The Gospel Project is a biblically based and God centered curriculum. Over a three year period, children will learn God’s plan of redemption from Genesis to Revelation. Every week, children in each age-group learn from the same passage of Scripture in a way that is appropriate to their developmental stage. This allows for one main lesson to be taught to the whole family regardless of the age of the child.

NURSERY

This is often where a child begins his or her journey through Medinah Kids. Volunteers minister to families by providing a warm, caring and safe environment for children newborn through 3 years of age. Our nursery is divided into babies and toddlers with developmentally appropriate toys and activities in each room. In the nursery, children learn that God loves them through Bible stories, songs, games and crafts that match the same story and key ideas that older groups are learning. Each child is prayed for every week.
Available 10:30am.

EARLY CHILDHOOD
This is an active place where 3 through 5 year olds participate in a variety of activities to lay a foundation of faith. Activities include singing, learning about who God is through Bible stories and object lessons, playing, and making crafts.
Available at 10:30am

ELEMENTARY
Our elementary kids all meet together, 1st through 6th grades. During the Large Group teaching, the kids learn the truths of the Bible and come together to worship the Lord. In age-divided small groups, they learn how these truths apply to their lives today through review games, Bible memory, prayer, and relationships. Kids learn, apply and experience concrete examples of who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him. Both volunteers and kids have a blast as they grow stronger in their faith and as a community.
Available at 10:30am.

VOLUNTEERS:
All of our volunteers go through an application process which includes references and a background check. All volunteers also go through training at least once a year to be refreshed on safety policies, spiritual development and teaching strategies.

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
There are plenty of ministry opportunities available to members and regular attenders of Medinah that give them the ability to exercise their spiritual gifts. As they minister to children, leaders learn valuable ministry skills and encourage one another to bring honor and glory to Christ (1 Peter 4:10-11).
