As a servant resource to churches, Awana missionaries are fully-faith supported.  They look to God in faith for the provision of financial, spiritual and other needs.  These needs are then communicated to churches and individuals so that others can embrace their vision and support the missionary prayerfully and financially.  Such support enables missionaries to assist the local church in reaching kids with the good news of Christ and building bridges to the children’s homes.

God blesses this biblical model of partnership in several ways.  In addition to the necessary finances, the missionary receives more effective prayer and a network of ministry partners.  Members of a missionary’s support team gain God’s blessings for being faithful and engage more fully in a life-changing ministry.

As Awana missionaries we share your passion to reach children and families in your community.  In addition to reaching boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him, Awana missionaries work alongside local churches to:

  • Advocate children’s ministry by being a resource for pastors and church leaders
  • Promote the Awana ministry to evangelical churches in Chicago and surrounding suburbs
  • Start, train, and support local Awana clubs
  • Partner with the local church to ensure maximum outreach in the community
  • Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers and lay leaders in local churches
  • Manage a team of volunteers that conducts Awana events
  • Sharpen the teaching and shepherding skills of the adults that work with children

  1. 80% of all salvation decisions in America are made by children between the ages of 4 and 14
  2. By the time a child reaches 13 years old his lifelong beliefs, priorities, and character are typically fully developed
  3. 50-90% of the youth in churches drop out of church within the first two years of leaving their parents home
  4. Of those over 20 years old, only about 6% of them will ever be saved.

Awana considers itself a servant to the local church.  Too minister best to children, we must equip those who work with children.  And that is why we are so passionate about working with children and training adults to work with children.
